A standard full groom (dry bath) appointment generally takes up to an hour to complete. However, it is not easy to predict how a cat will respond to being brushed and handled, especially if they have not been groomed professionally before. Therefore, we suggest keeping up to 2 hours free for every appointment. This allows for rest breaks for your cat if needed.
In some cases, a second follow up appointment may be required to complete the grooming session.
Before the appointment we ask that your cat is kept as calm as possible and is easily accessible ahead of the session. This may involve closing doors to parts of the house so that your cat can't hide away under furniture. For outdoor cats, you will need to ensure that they are indoors in sufficient time for the appointment (This may involve locking them indoors for a period of time).
It is also a good idea to make sure your cat has not been fed within 2 hours of the appointment. This is so your cat is as comfortable as possible (i.e. does not have a full stomach) during the session. It also helps prevent any toilet related accidents during the grooming.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a wet bath option at this time. But we hope to add it to our service in the future.
To secure your appointment you will be asked to make a deposit of £35.00, within 24 hours of making the booking. The remaining balance is paid at the end of the appointment..
Payment can be made by online bank transfer. and the details will be provided via an invoice.
Cats are very independent creatures and are very capable of cleaning and grooming themselves. However, they still need a little help to remove loose hair, dead skin and debris from their undercoat to avoid any knots forming, especially in semi and long-haired cats.
If left un-brushed, the hair will clump together and create severe matting and even pelting of the coat. This can be extremely painful and uncomfortable for the cat, restricting their movement and causing skin irritations and sores.
Regular grooming not only keeps the coat matt free, it also helps with your cat's circulation, keeps the coat shiny and healthy and even helps prevent excess hair being shed around your home. It can also help reduce fur balls from occurring. This applies to all cats, whether they are short-haired, semi or long-haired.
The simple answer is....no.
Cats can be very wary and unsure when presented with new situations and they aren't generally keen on being restrained or pinned. down. My sessions are designed not only to groom a cats coat, but to create a pleasant experience that gains trust so that they tolerate being on the table and being handled for the required time..
Some groomers will use soft muzzles or cone collars on cats, if they are prone to biting and swiping, however this is not something that I have resorted to in my sessions.
